Who we are

Khalid has over 20+ years of experience in successfully growing and leading software development teams. He has held senior leadership positions with some of North America’s leading technology-driven businesses, including PowerLOC and Terida Systems. Khalid has significant experience designing and developing advanced decision support and intelligence systems at scale. His work has been recognized throughout his career, including awards for “Best Systems” from the National Association of State CIOs, and by the WHO for the AIDS/HIV Disease Surveillance system developed for Trinidad and Tobago. Khalid holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto.

Alexei has over 25+ years of experience, with past roles in senior leadership positions for some of North America’s largest publicly traded and private companies. A strategic and creative entrepreneur, he has successfully co-founded and scaled several businesses. After receiving a Computer Science and Applied Mathematics degree from the Kiev Military Academy of Aviation Engineering, Alexei completed a postgraduate study in Design and Programming of Expert Systems and Artificial Intelligence at the Moscow Institute of Radio-Engineering, Electronics and Automatics. He also holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business in Toronto.

Dr. Seyed-Parsa Hojjat is responsible for x, y and z at Crater Labs. Prior to joining our team, he taught advanced methods for image analysis at the University of Toronto. This included classical machine and deep learning practices. While at U of T, Dr. Hojjat conducted research on the application of computer vision and artificial intelligence in fMRI and brain perfusion studies at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He’s regarded as one of the top AI and machine learning experts globally, with his research published in multiple neuroscience journals. Dr. Hojjat received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from McMaster University, and a PhD in Biomedical and Material Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Nathan Perlmutter leads our research team and department on behalf of our clients. Prior to joining Crater Labs as a Lead Researcher, Dr. Perlmutter taught graduate and undergraduate math at Stanford University. He also conducted postdoctoral research in the fields of Algebraic Topology, Differential Geometry and their applications to machine learning and data science. Dr. Perlmutter received a PhD in Mathematics from University of Oregon and was awarded a fellowship by the American National Science Foundation.
